COVER PHOTO:

This quarter’s cover photo is that of the New Presque Isle Lighthouse on Lake Huron north of Alpena and south of Rogers City. The cover provides good representation to our two lead stories "Michigan’s Great Lakes Lighthouses Return as....Beacons of the Past" and "The First Annual Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival is Celebrated in Alpena, Michigan"

These stories deal with the romance and history of Great Lakes Lighthouses and how they have captured the imagination of thousands throughout our state. Highlights include a trip to the Middle Island Lighthouse North of Alpena to witness it’s restoration and a trip to the First Annual Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival that was held in Alpena last October. Also in this edition plans are revealed for the second annual event.

The photographer of the cover shot is Thomas J. Atkins of Sterling Heights whose specialty is lighthouse photography. If you’d like more information on the photographer you may contact him at 35432 Tall Oaks Dr. Sterling Heights, Mi. 48312 or call (810) 978-1923. Thanks Tom for the great shot!
