 JANUARY 2ND SHOW #1301:  Dell treats us to a trip to POSEN and the bakery craft shop/greenhouse of the Taratutas. Annette and Dennis Taratuta are known far and wide for their delicious homemade baked breads made daily…unique freeze dried flowers and their unusual display of area arts and crafts.

 Then Barry visits with Ophthalmologist Dr. F.K. Shokoohi of SAGINAW about the astounding technological advancements in the world of Laser eye care and surgery.  At “Great Lakes Eye” we witness first hand the wonders of the Laser in sight preservation.

 JANUARY 9TH SHOW #1302:   Barry takes us to the Michigan Magazine Museum for a look back at last years Michigan Hayride Country Music Legends concert held in August 2001.

 Then Dell visit the Michigan Magazine Museum Kitchen for canning lessons with Nelson Yoder and Rhonda Stutesman.   Nelson and Rhonda demonstrate the open kettle process for canning Michigan Peaches and Tomatoes.

 JANUARY 16TH SHOW #1303:    Dell and Barry share with us the fun and excitement of last years MICHIGAN MAGAZINE EXPO ARTS AND CRAFTS SHOW 2001 held at the Michigan Magazine Museum the last weekend in June.  During this the third annual event over 30,000 spectators converged on the museum grounds, over two days,  to visit with some of the states most talented artisans and crafts people. 

 JANUARY 23RD SHOW #1304:   Barry travels back to GAGETOWN and into the kitchen of  LifeStyle Plus.   Here the staff whips up a vegetarian dinner for the crew.

 Then Dell travels to WEST OLIVE to visit with tinsmith Ed Vugteveen. From his small tinner’s shop in the basement of his home Ed handcrafts birdfeeders, bird baths, lanterns and just about anything you can think of from galvanized steel and or copper.  

 JANUARY 30TH SHOW #1305:   Dell travels to ST. CHARLES to visit the world headquarters of THE POLKA NEWS.  Dell visits with founder and editor Carl Rohwitter.

 Then Barry takes us on a tour of the Ilowski Sausage Company of CHINA Township.  Here owner Joe Ilowski tells us of the family tradition he maintains in producing old fashioned smoked sausage, Bacon, Ham,  Fresh Pork and Beef.

 FEBRUARY 6TH,  SHOW #1306:  Dell visits Artist and Singer/Songwriter Lynn Morgan of GLADWIN.  Lynn has been described as an "artist of American life".  His musical compositions are just as breathtaking as the portraits he paints of the life around us.  Like the songs he sings each picture creates a mood through a well told story.

FEBRUARY 13TH,  SHOW #1307:   The Michigan Magazine crew highlights the 2001 Great Lakes Lighthouse festival in Alpena.

FEBRUARY 20TH,  SHOW #1308:    Dell meets wood turning artist Cliff Lounsbury of EAST TAWAS.  At Cliff's home studio we also visit with several other wood turners from throughout the state who have converged at Cliff's home to demonstrate for Michigan Magazine the beautiful artistry of wood turning.  Phone Cliff at: (989) 362-0038

 FEBRUARY 27TH,  SHOW #1309:   Barry travels to TAWAS CITY to visit with wood carving and oil painting artist Terry Matzke.  Despite limited vision due to diabetic complications, Terry demonstrates how he continues to create wonderful pieces of art from his home studio. MARCH 6TH  SHOW #1310:  It's Maple Syrup time! Michigan Magazine travels first to an actual Maple Syrup Processing farm in OGEMAW County (Ron's Pure Maple Syrup (989) 685-2807)  to observe, along with the fifth grade class of St. Joesph Elementary School of WEST BRANCH, the process from tapping the Maple trees to Bottling the Rich Maple Syrup for distribution. MARCH 13TH  SHOW #1311  The Michigan Magazine crew heads to the annual "Garlic Cookoff" sponsored by COLEMAN radio station WPRJ.  Barry visits with station manager Gary "B".  We're also treated to a special cooking demonstration by station personal.  Then Barry and Dell Help judge over a dozen creative enrants from the mid Michigan area..all using the key ingredient , Garlic!

Then Dell travels north of MIO to the headquarters of Panel Concepts.  Here owner John Gasho tells us of his unique concepts of providing those wishing to create there own get-away cottage an easy alternative.  With instructions in hand nearly any one can build their own log cabin or storage building utilizing pre-formed log panels that simply screw together!

MARCH 20TH  SHOW #1312:    Barry travels to ROCHESTER HILLS to visit with Ukrainian Egg Artist Susana Woloson.  From her kitchen table Susana demonstrates her artistry which has been featured at various art shows accross the state.  You may contact Susana at:

Then Dell visits with the late Christian visionary artist Harry Antis of ANN ARBOR. While at an inspiring exhibit in ALPENA last November Dell witnesses the incredable detail of Harry's work and visits with him as he describes the inspiration behind his work.

MARCH 27TH SHOW #1313:    Dell continues his visit with visionary artist Harry Antis of ANN ARBOR.

Then Barry revisits the Bottle Cap Musem of SPARR, Michigan.   It's been nearly 10 years since our last visit with Bill Hicks owner.  Since then Bill has added thousands of Coca Cola collectables to his museum making it one of the largest collections in the country. APRIL 3RD SHOW #1314: Dell travels to CLIO to witness the wood creations of Mike and Janet Van Buskirk. from miniature log homes to a variety of lawn ornaments. We visit with this husband and wife crafting team to learn more about life after retirement.

Then Barry visits LARIUM, Michigan locagted adjacent to CALUMET. Here in the wee early mornig hours we stop by TONI'S COUNTRY KITCHEN. At Toni's we taste some of the UP's best tasting pasties while learning more about the fascinating UP history from restaurant Chef and owner Erick Frimodig.

APRIL 10TH SHOW #1315: Barry visits with ALPENA artist Kim Diment. Kim has traveled the world in her quest to capture onto canvas wild life of the world. Kim is also a recent winner of the Michigan Duck Stamp competition.

Then Dell takes us to TUSTIN, Michigan to discover the unique art of Laura Butler. Laura creates detailed custom sculptures with pipe cleaners. We also witness here talent in creating custom jewelry.

APRIL 17TH SHOW #1316: Dell visits with Christian singer/songwriter/painter Lynn Morgan. This update on Lynn's work details his new projects that have led him down some unusual creative paths.

Then Barry takes us to Flint for a realistic demonstration and re-inactment of an EMT emergency situation. Our guest is Emergency Medical Technician Scott Hardy.

APRIL 24TH SHOW #1317: Barry discovers the STAINED GLASS CABINET COMPANY of ACME, Michigan. Here we witness the creation of original and elegant designs using Northern Michigan wildflowers pressed in beveled glass or beautiful hand-engraved glass beveles to create truly unique fixtures. Also highlighted is thier handcrafted solid oak furniture constructed with Northern Michigan Redwood and stained glass!

Then we return to Grand Island with Dell to learn more about the the restoration of the historic East Channel Lighthouse. This is part two of our two part series on one of the most picture taken lighthouses on the great lakes.

MAY 1ST, SHOW #1318: Dell travels to SHELBY, Michigan to visit with author Betty Phillips. Betty has compiled and published a book documenting unique cemetery headstones and monuments in Michigan.

Then Barry visits with Mackinac Jane, Jane Winston, at her summer home on MACKINAC ISLAND, to learn more about the Voices of Michigan Anthology of new Michigan Authors that her company publishes.

MAY 8TH, SHOW #1319: Barry continues his visit at the Stained Glass Cabinet Company of ACME. We learn more about the hand crafting process of creating a truly unique design using Northern Michgan wildflowers pressed in beveled glass.

Then Dell visits with STURGIS area author and historian Robert Hair. While working on the Sturgis Newspaper Robert became interested in Sturgis history. Upon retiring he directed his energy into writing four local history books, each one aimed at preserving local history. His books have received State wide attention from the Michigan Historical Society.

MAY 15TH, SHOW #1320: Dell visits with talented Stoneware potter Eleisa Martin of HASLET. From her basement studio Eleisa creates one of a kind pieces.

Barry travels to KILLMASTER, Michigan, the "Sudiest Ghost Town in the US!" Here, in part one of this two part segment, we visit the Killmaster Soapworks, a home based Natural Soap Company. Casey Makela, author of best selling books on Soap Making shows us through her family operation that specializes in the production of milk based soaps.

MAY 22ND, SHOW #1321: Barry continues his visit to Killmaster Soapworks! Here in the Sudiest Ghost Town in the US we follow the milk based soap making process from the milk to the final cutting of the bars and gift basket preparation. The family operation has garnered clientile from around the world through a growing internet and mail order business.

Then Dell features a sneak peek at the upcoming entertainnment for Expo 2002! Entertainers include THE GOSPELMEN QUARTET, LYNN MORGAN, ROY SCOUTS and THE WASHTUB TWO BAND.

MAY 29TH, SHOW #1322: Dell and Barry preview who all will be at the upcoming EXPO 2002 ARTS AND CRAFTS SHOW June 29th and 30th at the Michigan Magazine Museum grounds in COMINS, MICHIGAN. Over 160 artists and craftspeople will be converging on the grounds for two big days of exhibits and sales with plenty of family fun!

Then Dell takes us back in time to learn more about how the planning and construction came about for our new Michigan Magazine Museum Amphitheater. We’ll  visit with designers and construction workers and witness the power of volunteerism in making the dream a reality.

NOVEMBER 27th: SHOW #1348:Dell travels to  POKEGON Michigan the site of the first ever public performance of the gospel classic The Old Rugged Cross written by Michigander the Reverend George Bennard.  Since our last visit back in the early 90s the old Methodist church has been  taken over by a non profit, multi denominational organization dedicated to renovating the structure and developing beautiful surrounding meditation  gardens. Then Barry travels to GLADWIN and Stone Cottage Gardens. Here a husband and  wife team give up the hectic city life to create acres of beautiful Day Lilies for resale.
