JANUARY
January 6th - SHOW #1001: Barry highlights interviews with other popular Michigan Television personalities that spotlight Michigan and her people. Included will be interviews with the late Michigan Outdoors host MORT NEFF, Mr. Outdoorsman HOWARD SHELLEY, WNEM TV 5's DICK FABIAN, AND M.U.C.C.'s BOB GARNER.
Dell travels to SAULT STE MARIE to visit with world class taxidermist Randall Desormeau. Randy creates wonderful fiberglass replicas.
January 13th - SHOW #1002: Dell travels to FAIRVIEW to visit with Mike Sarnes....talented Bird feeder designer and builder. In his retirement years Mike has transformed his basement into a woodworker's paradise where he creates, at his leisure, a variety of birdfeeders for family and friends.
Barry is at the new Michigan Magazine Museum for the planting of the world's first Champion Tree Clone outside a university or nursery setting. David Millarch of the Champion Tree Project presents the museum two ash clones taken from a 400 year old ash tree still growing in the NW part of lower Michigan. http://www.chapiontrees.org
January 20th - SHOW #1003: Barry heads back into the Michigan Magazine Museum Kitchen to share his favorite Tuna noodle salad with the museum studio audience.
Dell visits with the Rod's and Relics antique car club of West Branch....The highlight includes their annual fall pic nic...this year held at the new Michigan Magazine Museum.
January 27th - SHOW #1004: Dell travels to MARQUETTE to visit with a unique pottery artist Paula Neville. At Paula's Aurelia Studio she share with Michigan Magazine her whimsical creations that range from vases to faces.
Then Barry visits with Ann and John Mahan of GAYLORD, authors of an incredible book highlighting their relationship with Lake Superior and Michigan's crown jewel ISLE ROYALE.
FEBRUARY
February 3rd - SHOW #1005: Dell & Barry return to the Canadian Wilderness with family and friends for fishing and fun on the backwaters of the Magpie river near WAWA, ONTARIO.
February 10th - SHOW #1006: Dell travels to the South shore of Lake Superior near MARQUETTE and the hospitality and the Finnish cooking of Judy Smith proprietor of "Our Paradise" one of the Upper Peninsula's newest bed and breakfasts.
Then Barry visits with U.P. author William P. Bjork near BRIMLEY. Here we talk of his latest release "The Camps U.P. North....A History In the Woods". This book is a brief history of the hunting camps of Northern Marquette County...most constructed between 1880 and 1910. Our visit includes a stop at an abandoned hunting camp deep in the secluded forests of Michigan's U.P.
February 17th - SHOW#1007: Barry visits the experimental greenhouses at Northwestern Michigan College TRAVERSE CITY to find out more about the incredible research being done on AZOMITE. This poultry feed additive has recently been discovered by student Jered Milach to also be dramatically effective in spurring the growth of plants!
Dell travels to IONIA to visit with Primitive Rug Hooking artist Linda Harwood....Linda creates custom hooked rugs on consignment and also teaches this old world art to a growing number of aspiring artists.
February 24th - SHOW#1008: Dell travels to LUDINGTON and the "Candelier" shop. Here owners Greg and Melanie Demman have perfected many forms and styles of candle making! From old world "hand dipping" and carving to a full line of original molded candles.
Then Barry visits Battle Creeks newest family attraction CEREAL CITY USA. Here we learn of the history and heritage of the Cereal industry in Michigan in a most entertaining way. Our visit is highlighted by a meeting with "Tony the Tiger"
MARCH
March 3rd - SHOW#1009: Dell takes to the waters of Lake Michigan for a bit of sailing with enthusiasts, Public Broadcasting Personalities Tom Hunt of CMU-TV and Dave Dean of the PBS series "The Boat Shop".
Then Barry travels to FAIRVIEW to ride the Au Sable Valley Railroad. This miniature railroad, the brain child of the Schrader family, travels through miles of the Huron National Forest to the delight of hundreds of passengers each year.
March 10th - SHOW #1010: On this edition Dell and Barry take us on a whirlwind tour of some of their favorite interviews. From candy making and fine dinning to unusual crafters and unique entrepreneurs this program takes you on 15 of our most memorable journeys.
March 17th - SHOW #1011: Barry travels to JENNISON, Michigan to visit with an incredible watercolor artist with an incredible task! Jan Upp is undertaking a project she calls "MICHIGAN in the Millennium" in which she is attempting to create 366 original watercolor paintings, each representing one day of the year 2000! With the deadline of at least "one portrait a day" Jan shares with us her dedication and drive in the project that will consist of Michigan scenes, festivities, or activities from each of Michigan's 83 counties. Then Dell travels to BRIGHTON, Michigan to visit with another talented artists! Award winning acrylic artist Michael Glenn Monroe. Michael's ability to capture the magic of Michigan's natural outdoor wildlife moments has been rewarded by top honors including the 1997 Michigan Duck Stamp, 1995 Michigan DNR Endangered Species Fund Print, 1994 Minnesota Deer Hunters Artist of the Year and the Michigan Wildlife Artist of the Year 1991/92 and many others.
March 24th - SHOW #1012: This week we travel to the "Harmony Hollow Bell Works" in ANN ARBOR . Here Dell visits with founder Bradley Cross who tells of his exciting journey in the world of "bell and chime" making. Bradley tells us of the leap from a cottage industry to a world market enterprise!
Then Barry returns for some Easter treats at Sherni's Candy of WHITTIMORE. While workers prepare for the busy season with chocolate bunnies and eggs Barry gets a chance to check out their home made "ice cream" making operation!
March 31st - SHOW #1013: In this week's journey to TECUMSEH, Michigan Barry visits with a "Pop Can" artist Victoria-Spleet Lenz. From the multi colored aluminum cans Victoria has created beautiful and fashionable necklaces and ear rings. From her home workshop she is creating a national demand through mail order and art shows!
Dell takes to the skies with Aerial Photographer Lynn Marvin of MIDLAND , Michigan. Lynn is best known for his aerial shots of the Lighthouses of the Great Lakes. Dell joins Lynn in his Midland studio and high in the sky in his four passenger Cessna Skyhawk.
APRIL
April 7th - SHOW #1014: From a Gemstone factory in SHELBY to an encounter with mysterious lights that appear nightly in the skies over PAULDING... Show hosts Dell Vaughan and Barry Stutesman take us on another Whirlwind tour of 17 of their favorite Michigan Adventures. Communities they visit in this show include: LAKEVIEW, ALTO, KALAMAZOO, MONTAGUE, HOLLAND, STOCKBRIDGE, LANSING, MT. PLEASANT, GLADWIN, COMINS, ALPENA, MOHAWK, WARREN, FAIRVIEW and TAWAS CITY.
April 14th - SHOW #1015: Barry visits with Grandpa Bruce Owens of BRIGHTON. Grandpa Bruce handcrafts rocking toys for children. From rocking "horses" to rocking "pigs" and rocking "motorcycles". Grandpa Bruce's craft is quickly gaining popularity regionally!
Dell then travels to HARTLAND and the home of Jim and Marylou LaPrise....two home craters that are creating beautiful "one of a kind " birdfeeders of Cedar.
April 21st - SHOW #1016: Dell takes us on a journey to WALLED LAKE and the home of "Roadkill Roy" BBQ Sauce. Here at "Jabars Complements" we visit with owner Michelle Wrubel who tells us the incredible story about how Jabars (http://www.jabars.com ) was founded by two single ladies who developed a line of sauces from their home kitchen. From humble beginnings the organization has developed a national market of wine vinaigrettes, sauces, dips and seasonings!

May 12th: SHOW #1019: Barry travels to SAUGATUCK and "The Ark Gallery". Here we visit with sculptor and gallery owner Marcia Perry. Marcia is a master sculptor of many mediums but today we focus in on her ability to transform huge discarded trees and mammoth tree trunks into award winning art! Then Barry travels to the "Nautical Mile" of ST.CLAIR SHORES Michigan for a visit to a brand new "Hawaiian style" restaurant called The Waves! Here were treated to delicious tropical dishes in a Polynesian atmosphere.
May 26th: SHOW #1021: Barry returns to The Waves Hawaiian restaurant in ST. CLAIR SHORES for more Polynesian fun, food and music......including personal Hula lessons from authentic Polynesian dancers!
Then Dell visits with talented oil painting artist Gary W. Odmark of HOLLAND, Michigan. Gary's renderings of Michigan Lighthouses and other Great Lakes sites has received accolades from throughout the Midwest. (Email: odmark@hayburn.com)
JUNE
June 2nd: SHOW #1022: Michigan Magazine spends the day with the Vultures Soaring Club of Michigan. Dell and Barry experience the excitement of actually soaring high above Michigan in these light motorless craft. The excitement begins with the actual pre-flight procedure and is highlighted by a 3,000 foot flight high above FOWLERVILLE, Michigan!
June 9th: SHOW #1023: Michigan Magazine Expo '99 is highlighted this week as we preview all those Artists and Crafters that will be attending this big event to be held June 26th and 27th at the new Michigan Magazine Museum in COMINS.
June 16th: SHOW #1024: Dell takes us to a very unique and new turn of the century "bed and breakfast" in historic CHESANING. The Victorian Gardens is a "B&B" run by the Thompson family that stresses their establishment as "a place for mind, body and soul". In a world of "get up and go" the family invites Michigan Magazine to "let the world pass by".
Then Barry visits with Sisters Paula and Leona Spencer of ALGER and WARREN, Michigan who create hand made one of a kind "Teddy Bears" for Michigan Hospices and Children's bereavement organizations.
June 23rd: SHOW #1025: Barry takes us to "Swede Anne's Butik" a brand new Scandinavian store recently opened in CLARKSTON, Michigan. Here we find "true" imports and traditional foods as gathered by owners Marlene and Ron Bentley.
Then Dell travels to 'U AUTO STOP' a 50's Soda Fountain and Vintage Chevrolet car collection in the basement of the home of Don and Linda Harbron of MIDLAND! The Harbron's basement renovation was made to accommodate class reunions and special organizational meetings!
June 30th: SHOW #1026: The Michigan Magazine crew visits "Michigan Expressions" in downtown MIO. Here Dell visits with owners Wanda and Bob Hunt and learns more about this unique outlet and gallery for area artists and craftspeople. Our visit is highlighted by several interviews with some of the featured artists.
Then Barry visits the "Fine Arts Sculpture Center" located in CLARKSTON, Michigan. Here, under the direction of the Petrucci family, many of the nations finest sculptors have there works cast in bronze and other metals. Here the works of sculptors like Edward Chesney, Marshall Fredericks, and Sharon Sommers have been cast in metals for eternal posterity.
JULY

July 14th - SHOW #1028: Dell travels to CALEDONIA and the "Big O' Fish House" restaurant and smoke house! Here we talk with owners Keith and Lori Osterhaven about their wonderful concept of a fresh fish restaurant located adjacent to their fish processing plant!
Then Barry visits with "The Blaster Master" of ORTONVILLE, Michigan. Robin Mansfield "the Blaster Master" creates wonderful fine art pieces out of discarded auto parts from salvage yards! After 25 years in the auto industry Robin continues his love of welding auto parts by producing one of a kind decorative pieces to a growing clientele.
July 21st - SHOW #1029: Barry visits with News correspondent Judy Kurnik of CHESANING, besides writing daily for an area news paper is an accomplished Civil War era seamstress who provides authentic reproductions for civil war enthusiasts. While visiting with Judy she tells the story of DC Calkins, a civil war veteran. Calkins was left behind in an abandoned Cemetery in Oscoda County after the Cemetery was closed in the Early part of this Century. Judy tells us of her involvement in the move of Mr. Calkins body to his family plot in a new cemetery. A full civil war funeral re-enactment will take place. In this segment we also visit with Editor of the Oscoda County Herald Bob Dobski who tells the story of DC Calkins and the finding of his long lost family.
Dell then travels to NOVI, Michigan to visit with an extraordinary young man..Jeffrey Michael. Jeffrey, now 22, began composing music at the age of 7. Now Jeffrey has his own company and has released five piano solo albums...and also composes breathtaking sound tracks for multimedia, films and commercials.
July 28th - SHOW #1030: Dell visits HASTINGS, Michigan and "Feed Sack Fashions", a home based operation created by Diane Haines. The women's and children's line of clothing is based on an era when actual feed sacks were utilized to make clothing. This nostalgic look is gaining world wide attention .
Then Barry returns to OSCODA COUNTY for the re-interment of Civil War Veteran DC Calkins with full Civil War military honors! Calkins whose body was the last soul left behind at an abandoned rural cemetery will finally be put to rest in a new cemetery with dozens of long lost family members in attendance along with civil war re-enactors from across the state.
AUGUST
AUGUST 4th - SHOW #1031: Barry travels to OSCODA COUNTY and the home of Evergreen Log Homes. Here owner Jim Larimer demonstrates his old world method of constructing "full log" log homes with a "high tech" slant!

SEPTEMBER
September 1st - SHOW #1035: Barry returns to Northwestern Michigan College in TRAVERSE CITY to observe more research results on the on the agricultural plant additive Adzsum Plus (Azomite)
Then Dell travels to Ogemaw Heights High School in OGEMAW COUNTY to discover the popularity of Boys and Girls Wrestling and the Northeast Michigan Wrestling Association. Here over 400 wrestlers ages 5 to 15 compete for Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals.
September 8th - SHOW #1036: Dell continues his visit to the NEMWA meet at Ogemaw Heights High School in Ogemaw County and learns more about the volunteer and family participation in this growing sport of wrestling. This collegiate style wrestling draws competitors from 5 to 15 years of age.
The Barry returns to OSCODA County and the re-interment funeral services of Civil War Veteran DC Calkins.
September 15th - SHOW #1037: Barry travels into the woods of Northern Michigan for a look at the latest forestry technology. We talk with Paul Call of the Michigan Forest Resource Alliance who demonstrates the wonderful new forestry techniques that'll guarantee Michigan as a leader in forestry and "reforestation".
The Dell visits with photographer Ted Nelson author of "The Nature of Kensington"...a photographic journey into one of the DETROIT areas more beautiful Metro Parks. Michigan Magazine visits with Ted in the heart of KENSINGTON PARK.
September 22nd - SHOW #1038: Dell travels back to MIO for part two of our visit to Michigan Expressions. A unique shop that features the work of dozens of area artists and craftspeople.
Then Barry stops in for a 4 A.M. visit to the Fairview Family Restaurant, Bakery and Coffee shop in downtown FAIRVIEW. We join the Diller family as they prepare delicious homemade donuts, pastries, and pies for their morning patrons!
September 29th - SHOW #1039: Barry gets landscaping and gardening tips from Reuel Detweiler, owner of Brookside Log Homes, and his wife Sara. From annuals, perennials, wildflowers and water fountains....the Detweilers share their love of nature and landscaping with us from their rural FAIRVIEW
